No snow? So what?

There is a common misconception that in order to have fun skiing, you must have snow. Or at the very least a super awesome summer rail setup. Well that's wrong. Lately I've been having lots of fun just going out and down noseblocks (which are really easy on grass! great way to learn) and laying a simple metal pipe down on a slight slope and just hopping on and doing some switch ups.
Past that, you can always take a pair of skis you don't care about, duct tape up the edges really good, and use them on the trampoline, I do this as well. Even just standing with your skis on and doing spins is fun. Or find a wall or something to jib in place and do spins off of.
There is just so many ways to have fun on skis with no snow. I hate seeing people despair over summer, when all they need is to strap on their skis and use them wherever they can. Just use your creative side and you'll come up with so many different ways to have fun.
Of course, building an awesome summer setup is always fun and is very rewarding in the end. My friends and I built one in one of their backyards that is very impressive, if I do say so myself. we work on new rails for it and improve it in any ways possible. We added speaker systems and outlets, lights for night sessioning, and even stickered up the place. Go out and do it, its a blast building and hitting it.
So my story here is that I had an absolutely awesome time with a couple friends just hanging out and hitting the setup. I would encourage everyone to use their ingenuity and build something to have fun on. Doesn't have to be the traditional setup, its whatever you want.
I arrived at my friends house around 11 o'clock a.m. and left at around 6:30 p.m. A full day, but we could have gone longer. We hung out, walked to the nearest gas station and got drinks, and just generally had a good time. It was a great day and I thought I would share it with everyone.
One particular funny thing that happened is that I got a huge lecture from the clerk at the gas station because I was buying three large red bulls for myself and my friends outside. He didn't seem to get what I was telling him, and in the end seemed disgusted that I was buying so much "sugar, caffeine, and things that you shouldn't have." I finally got him off my back enough to let me buy the things and leave when he asked me what I was going to drink when I was older. I said "tea." and apparently that was at least a better answer than the others I had given him.
So here is a fun, short little video from the day. I think we conveyed how we had a ton of fun, and that is what skiing is really about.
